The ultimate aim of the project was to demonstrate that by unlocking the potential of regional available knowledge and expertise on water on a water cycle basis , the safety and quality of the public water systems with regard to emerging substances can be guaranteed against significant lower overall investment cost.

Bringing together existing and newly generated knowledge on sources of emerging substances (sources), fate of emerging substances in the small water cycle involving water sources, drinking water and waste water (pathways) and on the potential impact on human health and the aquatic environment (receptors).
